Autisme Rwanda brings a track record of supporting children and youth with autism spectrum disorders and raises awareness of the local environment in order to spread a concrete, positive and innovative approach throughout Rwanda. Through the leadership of Rosine D. Kamagaju, the centre was established in 2012 and currently is home to 36 children who were born with a mental disorder called autism.The children are between 2 and 15 years old. Autisme Rwanda has the motivation and the know how to offer year-round quality educational services to children and adolescents giving focus on building communication, social, behavioral, vocational, and academic skills.

Mission

* Facilitate the daily life of autistic people and their families * Create in Rwanda the first innovation center (LivingLab) dedicated to autism which will include: - the current care and training center - hosting researchers in the biomedical field - an R&D center for smartphone applications - an educational research center to adapt and provide access to training a unit to study the prevalence of autism in Rwanda and Africa an artisanal unit for the creation of educational support materials

Vision

The autistic person is diagnosed and supported by his family and those around him. She develops her skills and has access to work. Society opens up to the world of mental disability and autistic people are recognized for their humanity and skills.

Our Values

The family is the very first actor in the care of the autistic child, we make every effort to preserve the maintenance in ordinary environment. The training is the pillar of the understanding of the teoubles by the entourage, it is systematically offered to families. Communication with institutions and the general public facilitates the integration of people with autism and the development of their capacities

Rosine DUQUESNE Kamagaju - Founder & Director

Born in Burundi in 1968. She currently lives in France.Expert in the management of autism and associated disorders.She holds the DU Autism and associated disorders: Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France.And has taken the necessary training in behavioral analysis (ABA) with Autisme Basse Normandie.She is Founder and President of the Rwanda Autism Center (NGO) which she created in 2014.

In Kigali, she trained the candidate trainers in the psychological and educational care of autistic people from 2010 until 2013 as part of MIDA des Grands Lacs (Migration for Development in Africa) organized by Minafet and Belgian cooperation . - She returns to conferences on Autism. - She has spent 15 years working with autistic people in France (in Angers, Gap and in Caen).
